대한 大韓이 가진 첫 비행학교 비행가양성사 The Aviator Training Institution : Korea’s First Flight School 飛行家養成社 2024. 6. 5.WED ~ 9. 1.SUN 국립항공박물관 3층 기획전시실 2024 특별전 Special Exhibition Special Exhibition Hall (3F) 전시를 열며 1920년 7월 5일 우리나라 최초의 비행학교가 미국 캘리포니아에 문을 열었습니다. 이 학교의 설립과 운영은 대한민국임시정부와 미국 에서 활동하던 한인 독립운동 단체인 ‘비행가양성사飛行家養成社’가 중심이 되었습니다. 제1차 세계대전이 끝나고 세계 각국은 첨단 기술인 ‘항공’에 주목하기 시작하였고, 일제강점기의 우리나라 청년들도 억압받는 조국을 떠나 머나먼 타국에서 하늘을 날아오르는 꿈을 펼치고 있었습니다. 비행기를 몰고 고국으로 날아가 ‘빼앗긴 들’을 되찾으려는 노력은 1920년 미국 캘리포니아의 윌로우즈Willows 라는 작은 마을에서 첫 번째 결실을 맺었 습니다. 지금부터 우리나라 항공의 시작을 알린 ‘비행가양성사’의 하늘을 향한 도전, 그 끝나지 않은 이야기를 시작해 보고자 합니다. Introduction On July 5, 1920, Korea’s first flight school opened in California, USA. The establishment and operation of this school were centered around the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and the ‘Aviator Training Institution,’ a Korean independence movement group that was active in the United States. After World War I, countries around the world began to pay attention to the advanced technology of ‘aviation,’ and even young Koreans during the Japanese military and colonial occupation fled their oppressive homeland and pursued their dreams of soaring in faraway lands. Efforts to reclaim the ‘stolen land’ by flying planes to their homeland came to fruition in 1920 in a small town called Willows in California, USA.
